Karen Baker elected as first woman Chief Justice of Arkansas

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — Karen Baker is making history as the first woman to lead the Arkansas Supreme Court.

Baker won with 540, 432 (52.65%) votes against fellow court justice Rhonda Wood with 486,008 (47.35%) votes.

Notably, she wrote the dissent against the majority of the court to not have abortion on the ballot in this year’s election.

Baker will replace outgoing Chief Justice Dan Kemp.

Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders is anticipated tofill two vacancies on the court in 2025.
