Join hundreds of other volunteers and Creek Crews during the Creek Week cleanup of Fountain Creek Watershed all through our area, cleaning up trash and debris. It all begins at 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday in America the Beautiful Park with music, refreshments and trash bags. Everyone will build huge Litter Letter art of rubbish collected from the creek. Science is fun at the annual Cool Science Carnival Day at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. For kiddos K-eighth grade and its free, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday. It’s the kickoff for 16 Cool Science Festival days with more than 70 events around the community. Music and bicycling all weekend at Buffalo Grass Bluegrass & Picking Festival at Buffalo Lodge Bicycle Resort in Manitou Springs, 2 El Paso Blvd. Picking circles and jam sessions. Absolutely funniest race, the Palmer Lake .5K, “The Race for the Rest of Us”! Runners, oops make that crawlers or strollers, will go the full 250 meters, stopping halfway for a doughnut and a cold drink at the end. Costumes expected. Sunday 9 a.m. to noon. A fall highight, the Harvest Festival at The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey on the grounds in Cañon City. The Winery will have its wines and a limited release of its Riesling.
