Colorado Springs is the “Most Neighborly City” in the U.S., according to a ranking published Friday.

Neighbor.com unveiled its fifth annual “Most Neighborly Cities in America” list, with Colorado Springs No. 1 after claiming the third spot last year.

The ranking took charitable donations, volunteerism, crime rates, voter turnout and population growth all into account.

“I’m incredibly proud and honored that Colorado Springs has been ranked the most neighborly city in the United States,” said Colorado Springs Mayor Yemi Mobolade in a news release. “Strong communities are built on the foundation of connectedness, where neighbors get to know, uplift, and support each other.

As part of its study, Neighbor.com surveyed 1,000 individuals on what they consider “neighborly.” The results showed that 60% of Americans rated living in a neighborly community as either a “very high” or “high” priority when choosing where to live, emphasizing that they value close-knit connections.

Mobolade pointed to the city’s recent work with the 1,000 Neighborhood Gatherings as one way they have been working to build a city of great neighbors.

The project encourages residents throughout the city to get to know their neighbors and strengthen existing relationships to reduce loneliness and isolation and strengthen mental health.

To date, more than 800 gatherings have been registered and can include neighborhood block parties, group picnics at a nearby park, home movie or game nights, or local beautification projects.

Other plaudits have come Colorado Springs’ way this year.

Colorado Springs came in at No. 3 in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Places to Live rankings for 2024-25. Earlier this year, the city also ranked as the 15th Best-Performing City by the Milken Institute, a California-based, nonpartisan think tank that measures the economic vitality of metro areas across the country.

“Congratulations to Colorado Springs and Mayor Yemi Mobolade on being named the most neighborly city in the country,” Gov. Jared Polis said in the release. “The rest of the country is finding out what Coloradans already know about the incredible and friendly community of Colorado Springs.”
