Kirk Cameron explained how the United States’ founding on Christian principles should give Americans hope about the future of our nation.
“We have been increasingly falling away from the original American Covenant, and most of us in America are so far away from that understanding of the essential need for a relationship with God that we don’t even know what that Covenant was or that it even existed,” Cameron said. “And then there are those who seem to intentionally try to strip God out of everything even the Declaration of Independence, even the Constitution.”
While many today gloss over the fact that the pilgrims who founded our nation did so because of their Christian values, Cameron believes that this fact explains why American Christians have a hope for our country’s future.
“We [have forgotten] the sacred roots that produced the sweet fruit of love and joy and peace and patience and kindness and goodness and freedom and justice and blessing and prosperity in America,” he continued.

However, as Cameron reminds us, the original Pilgrims came to America to escape religious oppression so they would be able to worship God and establish communities based on Him.
“They made no mistake that they wanted to be free from tyranny, but they understood that they were totally dependent upon God…” Cameron said. “They understood that God would act in accordance with His word if they would obey His word. That God is totally faithful. And they understood that those covenants would work to transform not only individuals but entire nations.”
Even as our nation continues to drift further from the intentions of our founding fathers, Cameron believes that looking back to their hope can give us hope for our future.
“This sounds like a great concept, turn our hearts back to God, but can we really win? I mean aren’t things just getting worse and worse? Shouldn’t we expect disaster and collapse? The answer is no. Because 2,000 years ago God unleashed onto planet Earth the most powerful, world-changing force ever known to man: The self-governing Christian,” Cameron said.
“When God unleashed this new creation through faith in the Gospel and this man and this woman’s shackles of guilt and shame were broken, empowered by the Holy Spirit and armed with the only weapon powerful enough to subdue the Earth and all of its institutions — the word of God — the entire world changed,” he continued. “The entire trajectory of the future was up because the self-governing Christian throughout history has been liberated internally and then, in turn, liberates his home or her community, their nation and eventually the entire world.”
“You and I are no longer victims of circumstances,” Cameron added. “But we become victors over circumstances. We no longer have to be dominated by history because of sin, but we shape history according to God’s word. That’s the promise that He gives us, and that’s the hope that we have.”

Cameron is giving parents hope for kids entertainment, too. He recently celebrated the premiere of his new children’s show THE ADVENTURES OF IGGY & MR. KIRK.
“It was such a wholesome, fun-filled, faith-stirring night. I left full to the brim with gratitude, joy, and real encouragement about the next generation of god-honoring media!” he said of the event.
“Building off of BRAVE Books’ Freedom Island Series, it will be like a modern-day MR. ROGERS’ NEIGHBORHOOD, entertaining children while developing their character in every episode,” a description of the series reads. “And, the show will be a tool that we can use to reach millions of children across America and spread the Gospel.”
