From his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, Donald Trump has made claims of “cheating” in Philadelphia.
The former president posted on his platform Truth Social – but did not provide any evidence to support it.
Authorities in Philadelphia have rejected the claim, saying there is “absolutely no truth” to the allegations.
The post suggests the presence of law enforcement in Philadelphia is down to “CHEATING”.
Philadelphia’s district attorney described this as an “unfounded allegation”, adding that there is “no factual basis” to support it.
The city’s commissioner, Seth Bluestein, also said there was no truth to the allegation and that voting in Philadelphia has been “safe and secure”.
The post was published on Truth Social four hours ago – when the polls in Philadelphia were still open.
Shortly after, Trump claimed there was “heavy law enforcement” in Detroit in Michigan and Philadelphia.
A spokesperson for the Detroit Police Department (DPD) told Sky News “there has been no recent increase” in their staffing levels.
They said: “As we have done in prior elections, the DPD has assigned personnel to locations throughout the city to ensure public safety for all voters during this election cycle.
“The amount of staffing deployed is appropriate for the expected turnout and consistent with the department’s plan developed in advance to meet the needs of this event. There has been no recent increase in our staffing levels.
“We are in close communication with the city clerk and will provide any needed assistance in ensuring election integrity.”
